Innovation at its best

The Dearman Engine™ simply generates both cooling and power from a single tank of liquid nitrogen. Making it very efficient, effectively providing double the cooling of other cryogenic systems or halving the amount of gas needed for cooling.

How it works:

  1. Cold liquid nitrogen (LiN) is piped through heat exchangers to provide rapid cooling in the first refrigeration circuit.
  2. The now warm nitrogen is fed into the Dearman Engine™ (an ingenious yet simple piston expander) and mixed with a heat exchange fluid to increase efficiency as it expands, generating power.
  3. The Dearman Engine™ powers a second refrigeration cycle and generates electricity to power fans and other systems, allowing fully independent operation.
  4. The heat exchange fluid is recovered and recycled, and the nitrogen is returned to the air.
